Jaeyoung Park (2007– 2019 at EMC2)
Dr. Jaeyoung Park served as President and Chief Technology Officer at EMC2. He received his Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University. Before joining EMC2, Dr. Park was a Technical Staff Member at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he led several R&D projects on atmospheric pressure plasma source developments, IEC fusion plasma research, and neutron generator technology for the Department of Homeland Security.
Recruited by Dr. Bussard in 2007, Dr.Park led the EMC2 team for the successful completion of the WB-7 and WB-8projects for the US Navy, achieving a key breakthrough in high beta plasma start-up and confinement enhancement. Collaborating with Prof. GiovanniLapenta, Dr. Park developed a first-principles simulation code for Polywell devices that became a cornerstone of EMC2’s current R&D strategy. He is credited with creating the computational blueprints for a Polywell fusion power reactor and a Polywell neutron generator.
